Used Nissan Patrol For Sale – Own A Luxury SUV
Since the original Nissan Patrol rolled off of its Japanese production line in 1951 there has been a constant demand for any one of the 6 generations of Used Nissan Patrol SUVs for Sale across the globe. In fact, there is a long history behind this iconic vehicle that dates back to the first generation of Nissan Patrol, which was designed to resemble the famous Willys Jeep used during World War II, and continues today in its 6th generation in South Africa. The Nissan Patrol was, in fact, one of the vehicles that helped put Nissan back on the map, and helped re-establish Japan’s’ manufacturing prowess after the devastation of the Second World War. Since then it has gone on to become a top-selling SUV not just in South Africa, but also in Australia, Central and South America, South Africa, parts of Asia and Western Europe.

5th Generation Nissan Patrol
1997 – 2016
|
Originally launched in December 1997, the 5th generation Nissan Patrol was made available with both petrol and diesel options powering this beast of an off-road SUV. Its reliability and power soon caught the eyes of the military in Asia, The Middle East and even the Irish Army (where the 5th and 4th generation Patrol is used as the primary troop transport vehicle). Of course, the civilian versions of the Nissan Patrol have much higher comfort specs than their military cousins, but the fact is the mechanical engineering and reliability factors expected by the world’s military still come standard in all new and used Nissan Patrols for sale in South Africa as well.
In 2005 the Nissan Patrol received its first major facelift of this generation, one which saw an upgrade to the exterior looks as well as to the variable turbo geometry of the diesel engine. It is this look and raw power which has become so familiar in both the new and Used Nissan Patrol market in SA.
Did You Know? As of 2014, this generation of Nissan Patrol has been replaced by a 6th generation Nissan Patrol in all but South Africa, the Middle East, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Philippines and certain parts of the African continent. Although this generation of Patrol was still available in Australia and New Zealand until April 2016, it has now also been replaced by the newer 6th generation. At the time of going live, this 5th generation Nissan Patrol is still slated to remain the available version of new and used Nissan Patrols for sale in SA for the foreseeable future. |

4th Generation Nissan Patrol
1987 – 1997
|
The first of what is now seen as the modern Nissan Patrols; the 4th generation Patrol was a radical departure from the Nissan Patrol variants that came before. This generation of Patrol was the first to have coil-sprung suspension, and was the Nissan Patrol that made the mark famous in South Africa. Power steering came standard across the range (which was not the norm for the time when it was launched). It was also this generation of Nissan Patrols that first made a name for themselves as military vehicles, and is still in service in the Irish Army to this day.
Did You Know? This version of the Nissan Patrol was such a hit with South African outdoor lovers that many of the Used Nissan Patrols from this generation are modified to some extent. In most cases, it is simply with the addition of roof racks, tow bars, driving lights, cargo barriers, side steps and even in some cases sunroofs. From time to time however engine modifications were also made, so be sure to check what is under the hood of any Used 4th Generation Nissan Patrol that is not purchased from an approved Nissan dealership such as Group1. |
